“Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split.” [1]
The veil or curtain between the holy place and the holiest of holy places was torn completely apart the day that Christ died for our sins on the cross. He made a perfect unblemished-by-sin sacrifice for the sins of the world. Now, it is possible for all of humanity to stand in the presence of God and have Him reveal Himself to us, that is, if we will come to God through faith in Christ.
“We have boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh.” [2]
It’s His blood that cleanses us. It’s His blood that paid the price of redeeming sacrifice. Washes us white as snow! It cost Jesus Christ everything, but He gives us this relationship with the Heavenly Father freely as we believe in Him.
“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil.” [3]
Thanks be to God for a soul that is anchored to the sure and to the steadfast Savior Jesus Christ as opposed to being anchored to our successes or failures. In Christ we receive the very essence of God’s presence with us. He never leaves or forsakes us.
“The veil is taken away in Christ.” [4]
“When one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.” [5]
“We… are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” [6]
Now, we are no longer trying to justify ourselves. We are no longer trying to do the will of the Father with human strength. No, Jesus Christ has given us His Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is doing the transforming work in our lives.
“If our Gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” [7]
Let us pray for those who are blind to the Gospel! The devil has deceived them to doubt the goodness and grace of God.
“Lord Jesus, please take the veil from their eyes. Please reveal Yourself to them! Help us Lord to help them to see You because You alone are Savior. You are the only way to the Father! They need You Lord! This I pray in Your Name Jesus. Amen.”
