Yes, the God whose very essence is love enjoys being loved by us people in return.
In the days of Jeremiah, the Lord lamented the loss of His people’s love when He said, “Thus says the Lord: I remember you, The kindness of your youth, The love of your betrothal, When you went after Me in the wilderness, In a land not sown.” [1]
The Lord reminiscences with fondness of that season long ago when the people actually loved Him. Though they were in a raw wilderness, they were kind and loving towards Him.
Once, Jesus asked His disciple and future Church leader, Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Thankfully, Simon Peter did and was able to answer to His Lord, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” [2]
Amidst all the people of planet earth is there anyone who loves the Lord Jesus, and is not ashamed to say so?
“I love You Lord!”
“I will love You, O Lord, my strength.” [3]
“Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house, And the place where Your glory dwells.” [4]
My prayer is for others and for myself is to love the Lord. He is worthy of our love! He enjoys love that is expressed with words and actions...
“Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.” [5]
“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” [6]
“Heavenly Father, please revive Your people’s ability to love You with fervent love. You are worthier of our love than anything or anyone else in this world. Thank You for Your great love for us, especially expressed through sending Your Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins on the cross, and to resurrect on the third day for our resurrection unto eternity with You. And thank You for Your Holy Spirit who lives and abides with us. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.”
