Throughout the prophets, God draws people’s attention to the unfair treatment that He has recieved in return for all that He has done for us. We took His gifts, but did not love Him as He deserves.
The Lord brought Hebrews 10:29 to my mind this morning while in prayer, “Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?”
Revelation 1:7 also came to mind, “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.”
When the people see Jesus Christ, they will mourn, perhaps because they will realize in that moment how insignificantly they treated Him. They did not regard the One who died on the cross to take away their sins, and resurrected from the dead to show them He is the One and Only Savior of humankind.
