Blessing is Better than Boasting

King David set forth a good example for us to follow, saying, “Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy Name!” [1]

The Apostle Paul wrote, “Let no one boast in men. For all things are yours: and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.” [2]

Let our hearts, our minds, our voices and our strength be unto the Lord! Bless His Name!

What has the Lord done for us? Let us not forget all His benefits!

He forgives all our iniquities. He heals all our diseases. He redeems our life from destruction. He crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies. He satisfies our mouth with good things. He renews our youth like the eagle’s. He replaces oppression with righteousness. He makes known His ways to us. He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy toward us. He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, the Lord pities us.” [3]

Let us be like those of whom the Lord said in His Word, he “did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.” His “heart was loyal to the Lord all his days.” [4]

To bless the Lord is better than boasting in self or in people. Paul urged the Corinthian Christians to shun the carnal thought-life. He wrote, “For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, ‘I am of Paul,’ and another, ‘I am of Apollos,’ are you not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.” [5] God increases – bless His Name!

The surest foundation to build on is the profession of Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and Savior, for that is who He is. All glory to Christ!

“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” [6]

“Therefore let no one boast in men.” “You are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.” [7] Bless His holy Name!
